Intersectionality of imbalance

Isiah Lea  – 2019-10-22

Smoking free

Talk about how it’s legal

Power trips

You know that the police will

Hmm Priviledge

Social media think its equal

So enraged

by so many people

Standing strong

Body’s feeling feeble

Mend your mind

Can’t pillage my temple

We’ve survived

But they think it’s simple

Vibe to rhymes

Why my flame feel fickle

Intergenerational trauma

See the pain trickle

Start with little

Wanna take a little more

No problem

Just some skittles on the floor

But outside

Why every summer like a war

Need a weapon in the drawer

Its oppression of the poor

Start with a little

Wanna take a little more

They switch empathy

For what’s hidden in the drawer

Heart sitting lower down in the core

The Past is what’s instore

Year of the gun

I still hear it all roar

Youth and elders

fighting to restore

Government got ideas they wanna explore

Cut health education programs

Evict you out your door

Regentrify

Sorry was this home ever yours

Real estate the states wants more

Over populate the streets weren’t built for

Migrant workers blood holding up the floor

Our youth wanna smoke cuz they sore

Pigs pig tie us

Train us from when we young

Fear is like a gun

From young we learn to run

Everyday we feel we’re done

Roll a ting sit and hum

Intergenerational trauma

Fear into strength

Taunted now I’m tempted

They need defense

So I defended

Without all the power that I went with

Replenished by other with the same ambition

It’s always a matter of discretion

Everybody may walk with a blessing

But always be mindful of their curse

Greed makes em always wanna be first

Quench all those desires I see the thirst

It’s not passion its a little bit worse

Eyes keenly set upon a purse

Materials craved moreover your worth

You’ve been miracle straight from birth

But now you rather just riddle the earth

Nature is nasty its dirt

Man this city molds you into your shirt

Nah this cant be how it works

The truth can sometimes be covert

Stand tall conviction assert

360 paranoia but man I’m alert

Know the shadows and

who dares to lurk

Parents on balconies

Sit like their perched

Till their kids are free beyond their scope

Search for dreams such vigorous hopes

Hope they dont have my same rebellious coat

But at the same time how else can I cope

Gotta show baby girl these ropes

No sulfates or perfumes up inna the soap

Yes it’s the lesser between two evils

But that’s why we vote

Find yourself that’s your only way to devote

Mind this time when people claim they woke

Careful now people lace what you smoke

Now rest sleep with each sunrise theirs hope
