Support trustee candidate Deborah Williams
Solidarity is a great thing. Its power will eventually topple our inept and self-serving provincial government that has cut about $6.5 billion from our children’s education, while eviscerating school boards. For now, local governance is in peril.
We need to support the most progressive of the few remaining trustee candidates who are running to represent huge wards. In concert with the Campaign for Public Education and Toronto and York Region Labour Council, Elementary Teachers of Toronto (ETT) has endorsed TDSB trustee candidates they know will fight against cuts, increased class sized caps, loss of programmes and so much more.
One of those candidates is incumbent Deborah Williams (Ward 7: Toronto St. Paul’s, University Rosedale, Toronto Centre). She needs your help. Deborah has been a powerful advocate for education for over 15 years, advancing equity, student achievement and well‑being along with good governance across the Board. As a local Parent Information Advisory Committee co-chair (PIAC), trustee or Board representative to the Ontario Public School Board Association (OPSBA) she has championed transparency, community voice, accountability and access to that public good we cherish as education.
Before she and all other TDSB trustees were dismissed by the Ford government in June 2025, Deborah fought a long battle to preserve Heydon Park SS, a haven for the most vulnerable young women, transgendered and non-binary kids in the city. The Board plans to shutter Heydon Park and Deborah wants to stop that from happening.
Families and students in Ward 7 need Deborah Williams in their corner. But she needs volunteers and money to operate a campaign across a huge section of the city. Her main opposition is a National Post columnist whose campaign ideas line up nicely with those of the Ford government.
